Riley | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Riley, Staffie, DOB 04? - Eastbourne, Sussex

Homing Requirements: Riley needs his family, perhaps with other animals, who can offer him the tender loving care that caters for his special needs. This relates to his poor co-ordination exaggerated when initiating movements and getting going, but disappears once into the flow of his walk. His vision is also slightly impaired. NB We removed a non sinister lump off his side. Would love a secure garden as he so loves to play with his toys.

His Story: Riley was found tied to a bracken bush in graveyard late at night, away from public view. He went home overnight then served his 7 days in the council pound in case he was claimed. We were standing there waiting for him offering our safety blanket. Riley had a Christmas foster with kids and cat and then went into a foster family with a rabbit and cats in Eastbourne.

Video: Riley on a walk:

http://s1111.photobucket.com/albums/h480/nina11959/?action=view&current=video-2011-12-08-12-32-41.mp4

Advert: Riley is approx (?)8 years old, with special needs. He has mild uncoordination, slight visual impairment and his eyes need care. He has lots of spirit, character and walks like he is on a march! He adores meeting people, children and dogs with glee. He may need to be retained on an extender as you may not keep up with him in his determination to meet and greet and he moves through the gears accordingly! Riley is housetrained, only having had a few accidents more related to poor health at the time or upside down routine with upsetting changes. He loves children, small furries no problem and happily lives with cats.

Riley is a small, smart, little Staffie. He has a ready smile and will break into 'Staffie chatter' telling you all about his day or if concerned about an uncertain trip in the car. He has had a persistent cough since being with us, but it seems to be shifting now and his weepy eyes seem much better also. The condition he was left in tell a little of the poor level of care this sweet chap received in the past!  All rests on his need for tender loving care and for him to know and be reassured that someone who loves him is there for him.

Buzz | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Buzz, Staffie, DOB 12.09 – Basingstoke

Homing Requirements: Buzz needs a family who are at home and able to offer him company. Skin condition probably being caused by fretting and stress related. Buzz adores people and other dogs and would love companionship as key criteria in his new home. We think this would have a good chance of resolving his skin/fur problems. His family must be prepared for his skin problems to be a feature.

His Story:  Buzz has been with his family since a wee pup, he is now 2 years old. Buzz is living as an only pet and his owners work long hours so he is spending long hours alone. His skin causes him and them concern and needs lifestyle adaptation perhaps dietary trials. Buzz is neutered and vax'd. Buzz needs a foster place urgently as we are loathed to place him kennels.

Advert: Buzz has so much to offer, he loves people and dogs. He hasn't lived with children but so loves them and is happy to play as long they are savvy; he does get excited. He will steal other dogs' toys and destroy anything fluffy (toys/cushions/etc). He likes to play with his chase rope and sticks. Buzz settles quickly with visitors. Travels in the car on the back seat. He is quiet in the house and currently left for long periods which we are looking to alleviate with a more inclusive and active life. Will chase cats and moving small animals but in a friendly way.

Buzz is a longer legged 2 year old Staffie. He needs attention for his skin condition which his current family are not currently treating. This may resolve spontaneously with a more inclusive lifestyle we feel.  A very kind heart and you get a great sense of fun from Buzz. Happy chappie who just wants to be loved and would fit into most families. Secure garden and off lead walks ...bring on the Spring.

Chloe | Cross Breed

Chloe, Crossbreed - Special Needs, DOB ?09 - Chessington

Homing Requirements: Chloe needs another dog to teach her how domestic life works and what living within a family is all about. Ex-kennel dogs soon pick up from resident dogs. Her family will need a lot of patience with her housetraining and adjustment to acclimatisation to living within a home and training her to adjust to walks. She must have a secure garden and exit management i.e. no gates or front doors left open just in case she got out, it would be overwhelming for her.

Her Story:  Chloe was abandoned tied up in a children's playing area with her who we believe is her litter sister. The dog warden recognised them as coming from a home close by where they were living outside, but it would have been difficult to prove. The kennel owners are beginning to work with them to build their confidence and skills and asked us to help Chloe find her home. We have spayed, chipped and vaccinated Chloe.

Advert: Chloe is so frightened she has every thing to learn and needs her family NOW! She has had an impoverished background but there is not an ounce of spite in her, even when she is frightened and completely out of her depth. Her confidence is very low; her skill base is absent but she wants to trust and is open to be guided and innately trusting.

Chloe presents as a large white Labrador but with a touch of Bull breed which is probably American Bull Dog. She is the size of a Labrador and is presenting as a loving Labrador. Chloe needs to join a family with another dog of any age. Chloe could live with a puppy or an old dog. She will learn from both and befriend both. She has so much to offer her family and she needs so much from her family.

“Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

The Gilberts | Mixed

'The Gilberts', 5 wild x domestic rabbits whose wild gene is more predominant than that of their domestic mum. All boys are now ready for neutering however due to being wild in looks/nature we are struggling to find them a loving home. Ideally we would like for all to go together, as they seek comfort as a group, into a home where rabbits can be themselves in a safe, secure area. If anyone out there can offer the Gilberts a forever home we would love it dearly.

Please contact their foster mum on bunnyfostermum@yahoo.co.uk (north Lincoln city centre)

Mackie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Mackie, Staffie, DOB 10

Homing Requirements: Mackie needs a stable family ideally with one other dog or plenty of dog companionship and ‘at home’ humans. He may well prove cat friendly as his intentions are only ever to lick! Mackie has special needs referring to his poor vision. This needs sensitive management e.g. an environment void of sharp corners and use of voice and training linked to your voice and significant noises. Mackie was emaciated and his system is just coming right with good quality food which we wish for him to continue.

His Story: Mackie was found stray in a very poor state. It has taken several vet reviews to get him healthy. Mackie is now neutered and now getting vaccinations. His right eye has a squint and he has poor vision in his left. Mackie is now in foster with 2 smaller dogs and just loving their companionship in Whitehill, Hants.

Advert: Mackie is a dear, dear soul who wins the heart of EVERYONE he meets. He is gentle and has an exceptionally diffident temperament. In fact Mackie presents as a puppy with such regard of his people and other companions. Mackie walks well on the lead with direction coming from the voice and his canine companions. On meeting you, you wouldn't immediately pick up he was visually challenged, just a little un-tuned into a new encounter. Mackie is house-trained and travels well in a car.

Mackie is the true Staffie; affectionate, sincere and oh so wanting to please his buddy friends, oh and everyone is Mackie’s buddy! He makes friends easily and is well received. He needs the VERY best of food, care and companionship. Mackie came to us for a special reason; so we could deliver everything he could have ever wished for ... could that be YOU?!

Please visit Mackie’s thread: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/about5230.html on our Forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.

Micky | Jack Russell Terrier

Micky, small Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 08

Homing Requirements: Micky is special needs. Needs a terrier experienced home without too many expectations on him. Micky cannot live with children and only mature visiting children who obey 'rules' until Micky emerges into being able to trust his situation. He needs a secure garden and exit management. A harmonious family who have few visitors and are not too busy or noisy. Micky thrives on routine. He needs to take the initiatives and even then a sensitive owner who goes slowly than his own pace e.g. if invites you, he can easily get out of his 'comfort zone'.

His Story: Micky came into the vets led by a teenager to be put to sleep. Micky was firing on all cylinders behind his muzzle, was completely spooked and terrified by the method of handing and events. He had never been to the vet for any care in his 3 years of life. The family were 'rough'. He needed extremely gentle coaxing and it is a miracle that the vet didn't put him to sleep. At Terrierrescue we work with our dogs to unpack bad experiences and begin to heal and help our dogs with slow achievable steps to regain self confidence and new skills.

Advert: Micky is a terrier who has had abuse and learnt to have a go back. He has been building trust in foster and now feels safe and loved. Slowly he has embraced the opportunities that his foster setting offers- in his own time, given plenty of space. He loves his walks and dances on appearance of a lead. He mixes with both resident dogs though has obviously been an only dog so quite insular in his relationship with them. Micky can bark excitedly seeing dogs on his walk. It may help him to live with a non-intrusive dog or as an only dog but no pressure!

Micky is 3 years old and we suspect a change of relationships in the home has caused him to lose favour or gain rough handling. Micky enjoys access to furniture, needs sensitive visitors that he can feel safe with and keep his distance. He needs to be in his safe place whenever he requires. The overwhelming feel with Micky is he loves to give affection, but is nervous of fast or unpredictable movements. He above all, needs a family who are there for him who not only talk the talk, but very, very slowly walk the walk.

Please visit Micky’s thread: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra46080.php#46080 on our Forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.
